#mynameisnotmum the idea for this work originated from a conversation with a friend who was fed up with always being referred to as ‘mum’ instead of by their actual name. I am a mum and many other things, one identity does not completely define who I am. In 2018 I executed this concept as an artwork, producing a name badge the exact replica of one that you would wear to identify yourself. This went on to become an artists’ edition of 50 badges and inspired the idea of creating a range of merchandise where the concept became the brand and the badge its identity.
