Call for women who experienced pre-term birth* in the past 5 years. Facilitated by visual artist, Anna Perach. We invite women to share their personal stories of pre-term birth in a creative and supportive environment.
During the six weekly workshops we will work together to give form, sound and movement to this underrepresented and profound experience. Every workshop will be one and half hour long with up to 10 participants. No former background in art is needed and all the materials will be supplied at the workshops. The group is designed to allow mothers a space for contemplation over their experiences and due to the complexity of the subject we strongly encourage women to attend on their own, if possible, so that they can fully engage with the process.
Anna Perach is a visual artist working between sculpture and performance. In her works she often explores the female body as a site of world making and encompassing the potential for radical action. In addition to her art practice Anna is also a qualified art psychotherapist and counsellor with experience in facilitating therapeutic groups. During the six workshop Anna will hold a safe space for sharing and processing the experience of preterm birth. In addition to utilising art materials, Anna will invite art collaborators such a sound producer (Laima Leyton) and a choreographer (Luigi Ambrosio) to co-run the workshops. At the end of the group’s work together Anna will create a visual response that would reflect on and honor the stories shared in the group.Anna will create a visual response that would reflect on and honour the stories shared in the group.
